Canada's Largest Ribfest is a volunteer driven fundraising initiative proudly organized by The Rotary Club of Burlington Lakeshore. Our weekend volunteers - YOU, are the driving force of the festival. We have over 600 weekend volunteers, who work with Rotarians during the festival weekend. Weekend volunteers commit to at least one (1) four-hour shift, gaining experience in multiple aspects of the festival. Volunteering provides a unique way to experience the festivities!

 

WHY VOLUNTEER WITH RCBL?

It's a great opportunity for you to make a positive impact in your community, learn new skills and develop lasting friendships. AWARDS PROGRAM

 

Canada's Largest Ribfest is pleased to present our NEW Volunteer Awards Program! The Awards Program recognizes and honours individuals whose contribution to Canada's Largest Ribfest has made a significant impact to the festival. These individuals have demonstrated leadership and initiative while advancing the mission and vision of the Rotary Club of Burlington Lakeshore and Canada's Largest Ribfest. 

Eligibility

  • Demonstrate leadership

  • Act as a role model and inspiration to other volunteers

  • Embody the Rotary Club of Burlington Lakeshore values

  • Comply with our Code of Conduct and Social Media Etiquette

 

The Awards! 

 

Leadership Award

Awarded to an individual 19 years of age or over that has contributed to Canada’s Largest Ribfest beyond their assigned role. This individual demonstrated overall excellence in the area of leadership and working as a group.

Youth Impact Award

Awarded to an individual under the age of 19 years that has contributed to Canada's Largest Ribfest beyond their assigned role. This individual  demonstrated overall excellence in the area of leadership and working as a group.  

Nominees are selected by members of the Rotary Club of Burlington Lakeshore. Awards will be presented to the winners at a Rotary Club of Burlington Lakeshore luncheon meetings. Awards certificates will be mailed out to those who cannot attend luncheon.  

 

Volunteer Motivation Program

The VMP provides you the opportunity to donate your volunteer time, which will provide a monetary donation based on the number of hours you volunteer to a charity of your choosing. If your charity is not found in our list of affiliated charities on the website and you would like to add it to the list, please type the charity name in the field provided in the sign up form. The Rotary Club of Burlington Lakeshore will need to approve charities not listed on our database. Please allow 5 business days for the approval process.

We're glad you asked! There are 7 different volunteer roles available at Canada's Largest Ribfest, below is a brief overview with sign up link!

VIP AREAS

Role and qualifications of a VIP Area Volunteer. You must be at least 18 years of age before the festival begins.

You must be Ontario Smart Serve certified (contact us at volunteers@rcbl.org to sign up to take the course).

FRONT-OF-THE-LINE

You will roam the queues at the Ribbers, announcing to the public that you have FOTL passes for sale.

You must be at least 16 years of age.

Recycling Team

You will work out of one of many Sorting Stations throughout Spencer Smith Park and help us to keep the event green.

Minimum age 13 years unless accompanied by an adult parent/guardian, work in team of 2 or more.

Recycling Set-up

Help with Sorting Station set up, help with park clean up as needed.

50/50 Raffle Program

Assist with RCBL 50/50 Raffle Program, in conjunction with Labour Day Weekend Ribfest.

Cashier

Comply with AGCO policies for age eligibility of guest. Work with the Beverage Team member who will take and fulfill orders for beverages while you process the financial transaction.

Minimum age 18 years, Smart Serve certification is highly recommended, but not mandatory.

Beverage Team

Comply with AGCO policies for age eligibility of guest. May include opening beverage cans. May include hauling cases of beverages and bags of ice. May include taking beverage orders and processing financial transactions on debit/credit machine.

Minimum age 18 years, Smart Serve certification required.

Security

Walking the perimeter of the park, being a presence, connecting guests with services they need.

Minimum age 18 years, Smart Serve certification is highly recommended, but not mandatory.

Signage Setup/Take Down

Mounting festival signage as assigned by the Signage Co-Chair. The Co-Chair will deliver sets of signs to various locations.

Take down signage after festival while preserving them to be used the following year.
